Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week’s list is supposed to be the top ten books I’ve recently added to my TBR from a specific genre. Since I’m a rebel, and I’ve been absent from bookish things for a while, I’m going with a slightly different list. Here are my Top Ten TBR Haunts, the books who side-eye me as I continue to ignore the dust collecting on their covers as they remain physically owned, yet unread, on my shelves.
1. This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner.
When I first came back to blogging, I stumbled on this book and realized that These Broken Stars had a companion novel! So I immediately ordered it online, marvelled over the prettiness when it showed up on my doorstep, and then promptly set it on my book shelf where it has been forgotten about. Again. Until now!
2. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Am I the last person to start this series? It definitely feels like it!
3. The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski
Remember when every YA cover had to have a pretty girl in a dress on it? Pretty sure I bought this because of how pretty the cover is. But with an average rating of 4.03 on Goodreads, why haven’t I read this yet??
4. Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins
I think I won this one actually! Although, if memory serves, I had my pick of books on The Book Depository within a certain price range and I chose Sweet Evil.
5. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
I love this world! I loved the first few books in the Mortal Instruments, and the Infernal Devices has an all-time favourite of mine as part of it’s series. This should have been something I devoured as soon as it came out, but here we are, a year later, still unread.
6. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
This was like, THE book to read when it first came out. Which is why I think I still haven’t read it. 4 years later and I’m still not sure the hype has died down.
7. The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna
This just sounds so cool! Clones? The philosopher in me was so excited to explore the ethical implications of The Lost Girl’s plot.
8. The Farm by Emily McKay
An old blogger friend sent me their ARC of The Farm, once the book had been released. I was a) excited I had made a blogger friend b) baffled that they would spend money to send me anything and c) gleeful for my first physical ARC (even if I wasn’t going to get to read it in advance anymore).
9. Heartless by Marissa Meyer
I bought this because I thought it was the next book in the Lunar Chronicles. That’s how out of the bookish loop I was before getting back into blogging! Now that I know it’s a different series altogether, the first chapter has been read but I haven’t been inclined to keep going yet.
10. Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater
I learned how to spell Stiefvater because of how much I loved the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy, and was raving about it anywhere and everywhere I could. I especially enjoyed Cole and Isabel’s connection. And I LOVE Stiefvater’s writing. I literally have NO reason to not pick this up. Except for maybe the cover…I do wish it blended in with the others better.
What are some of your recent TBR adds, or if you’re feeling rebellious like me, TBR Haunts?
